Abstract
The objective of this descriptive review essay was to analyze the main concepts of origami in the teaching of Mathematics. A comprehensive data collection of around 18 articles belonging to recognized database sources such as Redalyc, Scielo, Web of Science and DOAJ was carried out by using specific search operators. The results obtained emphasize the importance of origami as a fundamental didactic tool to teach and understand mathematical concepts, especially in geometry, algebra and combinatorics. In addition, its importance in solving complex problems in practical areas such as architecture, engineering and robotics is highlighted, providing innovative and efficient solutions. Likewise, its influence is evident in the development of advanced techniques for folding surfaces and materials, inspired by natural patterns and geometric principles. In conclusion, this essay underlines the multifaceted role of origami in mathematics and its interdisciplinary potential, demonstrating how the art of folding paper transcends its creative dimension to become a valuable resource for problem solving and human formation from a concrete experience.
