Abstract

The present research project focuses on the comparison of the extraction of cottonseed oil extracted using the Soxhlet extraction and manual pressing methods. For this process, dried cotton seeds are used. This research seeks to understand the extraction differences between the 2 extraction methods, in which the amount of oil will be understood and which method is the most appropriate for the extraction process. These results will provide valuable information about the quantity and characteristics of said oil, which may be relevant for its use in the food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry. Cottonseed essential oil is a product obtained from the plant species known as Gossypium hirsutum and Gossypium herbaceum. In particular, it is used for cooking, although it also has medicinal and cosmetic applications. When extracting the oil, a significant part of the content, which varies depending on the extraction method used. This is how a fixed oil with a high volatile load is obtained, which has favorable organoleptic characteristics. The main objective is to compare the type of extraction, the amount of oil extracted and the functions and properties of cottonseed oil.
