Abstract

The study addressed the lack of interest in reading, to establish the factors that influence the lack of interest in it. The methodology responded to a quantitative approach with a non-experimental and descriptive design; A census test was carried out and the sample consisted of 280 students; the gathering of the data was carried out through a survey. It is presumed that the degree of interest in reading in the students is medium; in the same way, the most influential factor in reading stimulation is the family and reading preferences are related to adventure texts, physical format books and aesthetics. In conclusion, it is established that the factors that influence disinterest in reading are environmental and pedagogical, due to the importance of the role played by the context and educational agents.
