Abstract

Developing a recreational resource for the socio-affective development in children with Down syndrome in the age group of 3 to 4 years in the “Jaime Mola” Educational Unit, was the main objective of this research, managing to identify the theoretical conceptualizations that describe the correlation of the variables, at the same time that it was possible to identify the specific needs of children with DS through bibliographic analysis and documentary analysis. The methodology to be investigated was bibliographic with a qualitative approach, different instruments were applied; such as the interview with the educator and the classroom observation sheet, the results identified the importance of adapting and creating inclusive environments in a playful, entertaining and fun way, making evident the importance of recreational resources, being one of the best tools when strengthening communication and emotional expression, being the possible solution to the problems identified in children with DS, as they are; the difficulties of emotional expression and difficulties in emotional communication, for local it was necessary to develop a recreational resource called “emotional puzzle”, along with a user manual with which the benefits of the resource could be made the most of.
