Abstract

Improving gross motor skills in children aged 2 to 3 years is effectively achieved through participation in traditional games, a valuable tool that not only encourages coordination and balance, but also boosts physical and cognitive development during this phase of childhood. The general objective is to propose teaching resources of traditional games for the development of gross motor skills in the CDI Horizonte de Oportunidades. A descriptive - documentary methodology was used with a qualitative and quantitative approach. As an instrument, interviews with educators and observation sheets were applied to the children of the unit, collecting relevant information that contributes to the development of coordination and balance. The results revealed that teachers recognize the importance of addressing gross motor skills, but the lack of teaching resources in the CDI Horizonte of Opportunities for such development in children was evident. In conclusion, this research highlights the importance of traditional games as an essential tool to promote gross motor skills in children aged 2 to 3 years, since these activities not only improve coordination and balance, but also stimulate physical development and cognitive during an important stage of childhood.
