Abstract

The study showed that the FerriLópez company faces difficulties in the recycling process of various materials, such as scrap metal, cardboard and plastic. These complications arise mainly from the lack of training of the personnel in charge of waste management. The lack of proper disposal of this waste not only entails a risk of environmental contamination, but also represents a significant economic loss for the company. Furthermore, it has been observed that the lack of effective control and an organized procedure in reverse logistics processes, as well as their corresponding disposition, is a widely recognized problem. The methodological approach used in the research consists of two interrelated methods. The qualitative approach was used for the purpose of discovering and refining the research questions. It is based on the collection of data of a qualitative nature, as opposed to numerical measurement. On the other hand, quantitative methods were used to address the research questions and allow validation of numerical data through statistical analysis. During the course of the investigation, an exhaustive diagnosis of the current situation was carried out regarding the management of waste generated by the FerriLópez company. This analysis allowed us to identify possible reverse logistics strategies that could be implemented to effectively manage the company's waste. Ultimately, the aim is to propose concrete solutions that reduce the environmental impact caused by the waste generated by the company. The investigation was carried out at the facilities of the FerriLopez company, which is located on Calle 6 de Noviembre, in front of the Obando Pacheco Stadium, in the city of Santo Domingo.
