Abstract

In the context of this research, research was proposed that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches, framed in a descriptive and explanatory methodology of an empirical nature, supported by a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The central purpose of this investigation was to determine the Average Daily Traffic (TPD) at the aforementioned intersections. For this purpose, a vehicle capacity sheet was used that was applied over three days a week, in a time interval between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with measurements taken every 15 minutes. . On the other hand, to collect data related to noise pollution levels, a decibel measurement sheet was used, along with the use of an electronic device known as a sound level meter. This device allowed measurements relating to the levels of noise pollution present in the study area to be obtained. The data were collected during the times of greatest traffic flow, according to the identified traffic peaks. The results showed that the maximum levels of noise pollution reached 93.94 decibels at the intersection of Esmeraldas Avenue and Guayaquil Street, in the time interval between 12:00 and 1:00 p.m., with an Average Daily Traffic of 18,923 vehicles. On the other hand, the minimum value recorded was located at point 6 of Calle Guayaquil and Calle Loja, with a decibel level of 86.20 dBa and an Average Daily Traffic of 7,639 vehicles.
