Abstract
The purpose of this project was the evaluation of vehicle flow at high-conflict intersections in Zone 1 of the city of Santo Domingo, following the macro territorial division defined by the EPMT-SD. In methodological terms, a non-experimental cross-sectional design approach was applied that integrated both qualitative and quantitative elements during a three-day fieldwork period. In this framework, data were taken on two typical days and one atypical day, covering a period of twelve hours, from 07:00 a.m. to 07:00 a.m. until 19:00 p.m., dividing this period into 15-minute intervals. These collected data were subjected to an exhaustive analysis in the study area, with the objective of determining the volume of vehicular traffic at thirteen specific points. Through this process, it was possible to identify the volume of traffic during the period of greatest demand, known as "peak hour", and detailed information was obtained about the vehicle composition at those intersections. The results of this research are presented in a tabular and schematic manner, which provides a visual representation of the situation and trends observed at the intersections studied. Based on these results, recommendations are made aimed at improving vehicular traffic management in these areas and addressing the problems identified.
