Maritime transport costs and their effect on Ecuadorian cocoa exports

Abstract
This study analyzes maritime transport costs and their impact on Ecuadorian cocoa exports. The research was quantitative and correlational-longitudinal. Data from 10 years were used for both maritime transport costs and FOB cocoa exports. Non-parametric analytical tools were applied to the results. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was 0.736, indicating an acceptable direct relationship between the study variables. However, the statistical model (ANOVA) did not provide sufficient evidence to conclude that there is a significant correlation between the study variables. The significance level was 0.684, well above the reference parameter (0.05). Furthermore, the coefficient of determination was 0.022, indicating that the model was not consistent.
