Abstract

This study is framed within the research line of Technological Innovation Applied to Electrical Systems and aims to highlight how Industry 4.0 has influenced electrical power systems in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, with the purpose of improving energy efficiency. The study proposed to analyze the conceptual foundations of Industry 4.0, categorize emerging technologies applied to the electrical sector, and identify the training opportunities required for human talent development. The research was justified by the need to understand how this technological revolution can optimize the energy sector by overcoming current limitations. The methodology employed involved the review and analysis of academic and technical sources published between 2017 and 2025, with the objective of expanding the knowledge base necessary for the development of the analysis. The conclusions indicated that the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies, such as automation and the Internet of Things, can significantly contribute to improving the efficiency, reliability, and management of electrical power systems. Furthermore, it was determined that an integrated strategy combining human talent training, institutional strengthening, and the promotion of technological innovation can help address these challenges, reducing the knowledge gap and generating new business and employment opportunities.
