Acompañamiento en Trabajo Social basado en derechos e inclusión de migrantes: evidencia de un territorio intermedio ecuatoriano

Abstract
This study analysed the relationship between rights-based Social Work professional accompaniment and the social inclusion of migrants in an intermediate migration-receiving territory in Ecuador. The design was quantitative, non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional. The accessible population consisted of 50 migrant persons linked to migrant-related guidance, documentation, regularization or support processes in an anonymised public institution, of whom 48 agreed to participate and completed the survey. Two persons declined to participate voluntarily. Data were collected using an 18-item Likert-type questionnaire that was validated by expert judgement and pilot tested previously. Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient was used because the data are ordinal. The results showed a positive, moderately strong, and statistically significant association between professional Social Work support based on rights and migrant social inclusion (ρ = 0.590; p < .001). The descriptive results indicated that the highest mean was found in access to rights and services for the social inclusion of migrants, while the lowest mean corresponded to mediation and institutional articulation in professional support. The findings indicate that support for migrants through Social Work, with a rights-based perspective, could serve as a bridge between formal rights and real opportunities to access services. This can strengthen both support networks and the sense of social recognition in local host contexts.
