Abstract

The purpose of this study is to compare the efficiency level achieved by applying slotting through a pick-to-light system to the dispatch process of a ceramics distribution company in Santo Domingo. The research was conducted using a mixed perspective, both exploratory and descriptive. A logistics cost calculation model was applied through flowcharts for microenterprises. An on-site observation sheet was used to obtain estimated execution times for the analyzed process. Among the most significant results, it was observed that the costs generated by the current dispatch process amount to $815.62, with a daily repetition rate of 19, a total of six basic activities, and a cost per process of $1.77. When calculating the slotting induction using the pick-to-light system, a repetition rate of 28 dispatch processes per day is generated, implying an efficiency increase of 47.37%.
