Abstract

The education imparted to physicians faces the complexity that teaching implies because they do not receive pedagogical training, being guided by intuition and tradition. The importance of methodological strategies for the development of academic competences is to promote cognitive and intellectual knowledge to provide comprehensive care; it is oriented to integrate theory and practice for the development of the capacity for critical reflection and problem solving. The research focused on a constructivist paradigm; with skills necessary for the construction of actions, evaluations and solutions through experience and interaction with the environment. The objective was to analyze different methodologies in experiential practice; which showed great validity in meaningful teaching. To this end, the research was presented using a quantitative analytical approach and convenience sampling, with a small universe that included the entire sample of 33 medical residents in the oncology clinic area, using the survey technique and the use of a questionnaire to collect information that was detailed in the exploration of the professional's skills on the use of achieved procedures, an investigative participation, demonstrating skills in real scenarios.
