Abstract

The present study addressed the importance of fine motor development in childhood and its relationship with academic performance and daily activities. The relevance of implementing effective pedagogical strategies that promote this skill from the early stages of education is highlighted, using teaching resources specifically designed with materials from the child's immediate environment. Fine motor skills are defined as the ability to make precise, coordinated movements using small muscles, especially the hands and fingers. These movements allow you to perform delicate and controlled actions, such as writing, cutting, buttoning clothing, and manipulating small objects. It is highlighted that fine motor skills are crucial for child development, as it facilitates the learning of important skills for daily life and academic success. The study carried out at the "Hortensia Vásquez Salvador" Educational Unit focused on examining the effectiveness and impact of a teaching resource designed with materials from the environment for the development of fine motor skills in children in the initial stages of their education. A qualitative-quantitative, descriptive and documentary approach was used in the research design. The results of the study revealed that the implementation of teaching resources in the classroom was positive for 85% of the children studied, who showed improvements in their everyday skills, such as fastening buttons, tying shoelaces and manipulating small objects. The fundamental role of educators in the development of children's fine motor skills through activities with teaching resources was highlighted.
