Abstract

Significant learning in the subject of Mathematics allows a better understanding of the content, through the implementation of an active methodology in the classroom, the research aims to determine whether cooperative learning significantly improves the understanding and application of mathematical concepts at the secondary level, the methodology used was the literature review and the qualitative method with a descriptive approach through surveys of teachers in the area. The results obtained indicate that cooperative learning supports constructivist learning where the student has the resources, the space and the opportunity to be the main actor of his education, however, teachers hardly use it in their practice, due to the lack of knowledge of its proper use in the classroom.
