Abstract
ICT was analysed as a teaching strategy applied to the area of Mathematics. With the aim of improving academic performance in this subject. The study had a quantitative approach, quasi-experimental design and the type of explanatory research. The population consisted of 152 students from four parallel A-B-C-D of the 9th year of General Basic Education, the sample consisted of 30 students from parallel A. A pre-test and a post-test were applied to measure before and after the intervention. A low level of academic performance was recorded in Mathematics; gradual progress was made in the achievement of the required learning when applying ICT (Desmos, GeoGebra and Descartes); and the impact of the proposal was significant, especially in the curricular blocks: algebra and functions and statistics and probability. In conclusion, ICT as a teaching strategy improves academic performance in the area of Mathematics.
