Abstract
The present research was carried out in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, with the objective of evaluating the effect of phosphate fertilization on the establishment of two banana varieties: barraganete and dominico, using 400 g suckers for their propagation; For fertilization, two compound edaphic fertilizers with high phosphorus content, 10-30-10 and 18-46-0, were used; applied three times, initially in the hole at the time of planting, at 30 and 60 days of age, at a dose of 100 g.plant-1. A complete randomized block design was used with a 2x3 factorial arrangement, with four repetitions, resulting in 24 experimental units of 80 m2. For the establishment of the banana crop, a planting density of 1111 plants.ha-1 (3x3 m) was used. evaluating its development 90 days after sowing. The best results were obtained with the Barraganete variety, presenting 74.88 cm of plant height, 21.94 cm of pseudostem diameter, 11.28 of leaf area index (LAI) and 63.54% of plant vigor. With the application of phosphate fertilizer DAP (18-46-0) the best results were obtained with 90.75 cm height, 24.57 cm diameter of the pseudostem, 14.14 LAI and 68.75% plant vigor.
