Abstract

Agricultural businesses, also known as agribusiness, encompass a wide range of economic activities that revolve around the production, processing, marketing, and distribution of agricultural goods and services. From agricultural crops and livestock to fishing, forestry, and the agri-food industry, this sector is constantly evolving, driven by global trends such as environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and expansion into emerging markets. Within this framework, IST Quinindé positions itself as a training center that promotes the use of advanced technology and specialized knowledge for the development of a more efficient and competitive agricultural economy, adapted to the needs of the 21st century. This work brings together applied research and case studies conducted in the Quinindé canton, Esmeraldas province, Ecuador, a region rich in natural resources and with enormous potential for agricultural development. Each chapter addresses a crucial aspect of agribusiness, from sustainable production to strategic marketing, highlighting the importance of innovation, technology, and a focus on quality to meet the demands of the modern market. The studies presented here reflect the commitment of IST Quinindé researchers and students to finding practical and viable solutions to the challenges facing local and global agribusiness.
