Abstract

Sustainable social housing is presented as a comprehensive solution to face the challenges of the 21st century related to housing deficit, climate change and social inequality. These homes not only seek to provide an affordable and decent home, but also ensure minimal environmental impact and foster resilient communities. The objective is to propose the challenges of the construction of sustainable social housing, which includes the use of local and ecological materials, energy efficiency systems, such as solar panels, and technologies for water management, such as the collection of water from rain. In addition, the homes adapt to the local environment through bioclimatic design principles that optimize ventilation and the use of natural light. Qualitative research was carried out, the bibliographic review, the inductive-deductive method, and the historical method were applied as techniques. The result obtained was the proposal of strategies that allow the construction of sustainable social housing according to the needs and the use of local resources.
