Abstract
The objective of the study was to implement the PECS image exchange communication system to improve communication and social interaction skills in a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Possui approach qualitative descriptive, non-experimental and transversal design, case study method and the techniques and instruments used for the field diary and the ADOS-2 Test to collect and analyze the information. The results of the ADOS-2 Test (module 2) before the intervention, or students present social conditions and domain of restrictive and repetitive behavior (communicative and social interaction skills) with high level of difficulties associated with the autism spectrum. It is essential to highlight the usefulness of the PECS system to improve the areas of communication and social interaction in cases of students with ASD.
